What better way to spend Father’s Day weekend than a weekend in the picturesque Heber Valley on Utah’s most beautiful marathon course. Not to mention all the other activities in Heber Valley. Only minutes from the world-renowned Deer Valley and Sundance ski resorts, Heber Valley boasts three state parks, a 2002 Olympic venue, a historic tourism railroad, 90 holes of stunning mountain golf, and a Swiss-themed town that was recently voted as Utah’s favorite town.

Due to road construction scheduled for summer 2023 the Heber Valley Marathon will be postponed until 2024. Normally we would look to reroute the course, but in this case, the location of the road construction is critical to the course and can not be changed.

We have been aware of this possibility, but the county has not been able to give us specific dates for the construction start date and completion dates, only that it is scheduled for summer 2023 and could possibly overlap our race date and interfere with our ability to operate the course on race day.

Our hopes were to get a firm date for the construction and still have enough time to promote the event adequately. Because we do not have a firm date for the road construction at this point, and with little time to promote the event, we have made the hard decision to cancel the race for 2023.

Thank you,

Race Information

What better way to spend Father's Day weekend than a weekend in the picturesque Heber Valley on Utah's most beautiful marathon course. Not to mention all the other activities in Heber Valley. A short 40 minute drive from the Salt Lake International Airport. Once there you are only minutes from the world-renowned Deer Valley and Sundance ski resorts, Heber Valley boasts three state parks, a 2002 Olympic venue, a historic tourism railroad, 90 holes of stunning mountain golf, and a Swiss-themed town that was recently voted as Utah's favorite town.

The Heber Valley Marathon & Half, a USATF certified course, course pays homage to Utah’s celebrated Central Wasatch. Marathon and Half. The race begins at Jordanelle Reservoir and travels through the Heber Valley ending and the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center, the location of the Endurance Sports Summit and finish line for the Valkyrie Multisport Relay and Valhalla 5K.

Marathon runners compete on the comparatively cool, scenic highways and country roads of Wasatch County, Midway, and Heber City, Utah. The first half of the full Marathon is a capricious B-line to Midway town center, pairing a 646 ft climb with a 1083 ft descent. The second half (also the Half Marathon) meanders through the tree-lined neighborhoods and past green pastures of Midway and Heber City before arriving at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center .

Valkyrie Relay

5K & Pursuit

The 5K event consists of two 1.55 mi laps within Soldier Hollow Nordic Center, circumnavigating the finish line activities of the Valkyrie Multisport Relay and Heber Valley Marathon Finish Line. Each lap runs on pavement and some gravel road with 125 ft in elevation gain for a total of 250 ft.

The Pursuit is a companion race to the 5K using your fastest 5K lap time to stagger your start BEHIND slower 5K competitors who will start ahead of you. The start is staggered according to REVERSED position based on each runner's best lap time during the 5K. To win, overtake the field in front of you, resulting in a mass finish instead of a mass start. The Pursuit is a single lap sprint on the 5K course (1.55 mi). Only runners who compete in the 5K may sign up for the Pursuit. To register please sign up for the 5K
